Who May Apply?
All incoming admitted Michigan Tech students with an ACT composite of 30 or higher or a combined critical reading and math score of 1340 or higher on the SAT may apply during the spring of their senior year in high school.

Please answer the following questions in about 1250-1350 words total. These questions are patterned on those found in nationally competitive scholarships. We consider this application the first step in getting to know you better and in preparing you to apply for a national fellowship/scholarship that will help you achieve your goals.

1.) Ten years from now, what research, scholarly, or creative activity are you most likely doing?


2.) Please describe the factors or experience(s) that influenced your selection of your proposed field of study or major. If you have chosen to keep your options regarding a major open at this time then please discuss the factors or experience(s) that you are currently considering in your decision-making process.


3.) Describe yourself as a leader. How do you perceive yourself as a leader? What unique qualities define you as a leader? How has your role as a leader influenced others?


4.) Describe the personal characteristics, abilities, and qualities that will serve you as a life-long learner.


5.) Describe a hard decision you made. Why was it hard? Would you make the same choice now?

6.) Indicate a favorite quote, equation, poem, work of art, or concept and explain why you like it.

7.) What constitutes a good university education in your view?
